ASTI (Association of State Training Institutions in India)
The Association of State Training Institutions in India (ASTI), established in
1983, is a pioneering organization that is instrumental in promoting
cooperation, collaboration, reciprocity and exchange of ideas among the various
state training institutions in India. This group of institutions has been
helpful in strengthening a culture of excellence in the administrative system of
the country. Not only are these institutions, engaged in the genuine application
of HRD strategies, are organizing a series of training programmes but their
initiatives in conducting research, developing case studies, facilitation
consultancy and promoting meaningful publications have also been phenomenal. It
has been recognized that collaborative perceptions and actions of these
institutions can be most helpful in improving the standards of civil service
training and in associated areas. In a nutshell, the objectives of ASTI are:
To provide a forum for state training institutions in the fields of public
administration and public management for exchange of views on training as a
profession and allied matters;
To exchange information on training techniques, methodology, and training
material among its members and other training institutions;
To actively promote inter-institutional cooperation and collaboration in the
field of training among its members;
To assist, promote and collaborate with individuals and organizations regarding
development of training programmes as an integral part of continuing education
for personnel in various public systems in the country; and
To promote greater integration and cooperation among generalist and specialist
cadres in the stats realizing the interdisciplinary nature of public
administration and the imperative need of such cooperation I the wider pubic
interest.
The membership of ASTI is open to all training institutions of public
administration and public management in the states and union territories. At
present, 21 such training institutions are its members.
