CENTRE FOR MANAGEMENT STUDIES

The Centre for Management Studies (CMS), an autonomous and integral part of the HCM Rajasthan State Institute of Public Administration, was established during 1982 - the Silver Jubilee Year of the Institute. The lack of training facilities in the area of management, particularly for the public sector personnel in the State, was greatly felt since a long time. The Centre for Management Studies is specially designed to cater to such need.

The HCM Rajasthan State Institute of Public Administration and the Centre for Management Studies, in fact, perform a complimentary role in the field of training. The Centre is utilizing liberally and extensively faculty expertise of the HCM RIPA.

OBJECTIVES

q       To assist, collaborate and organize training programmes in various management systems, particularly

q       in the field of industrial management

q       To promote the study of management systems and practices with a view to expand the frontiers of knowledge in this field.

q       To undertake or to help research studies in management systems.

q       To render professional assistance in the field of management to individuals and organizations.

q       To help in the growth of professionalism in the area of management systems.

q       To undertake such other activities and to create such other structures, institutions and organizations as may be found essential or conducive to the better realization of the above mentioned aims and objectives.

Functions:-

Apart from providing consultancy services to individuals and organizations on various management problems, the Centre for Management Studies is presently organizing training programmes in the following areas:

q       Financial Management

q       Organizational Behaviour and Organizational Development

q       Industrial Relations and Personnel Management

q       Operations Research and Systems Analysis

q       Enterprise Management

q       Management Development and Executive Development

The financial resources of the CMS are:

q       Interest on fixed deposits

q       Training charges from member institutions

q       Overhead charges on Government of India sponsored programmes

q       Interest on saving bank account

Due to its location at the HCM Rajasthan State Institute of Public Administration, the CMS generally utilizes the infrastructure facilities already created at the Institute. However, it has also supplemented them further from its own resources.

The CMS is conducting various training programmes. Some of the important programmes held under the auspices of the CMS are:

q                   Executive Development Programme

q                   Programme on Hospital Administration

q                   Programme on Public Distribution System

q                   Development Policy Analysis and Investment Decision

q                   Time Management Programme

q                   Health Management and Administration Programme

q                   Orientation Programme on Bio-Gas

q                   Foundational Course of Autonomous bodies-like Municipality

q                   MIS and Computer Programme

q                   Indian Statistical Services Foundation and Institutional

q                   Economics and Statistical Services of Rajasthan

q                   Computer Applications in Financial Management

q                   Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at work place.

q                   Right to Information Act

q                   Gender Issues

New activities taken up recently in RTI regarding strengthening. Capacity building and awareness generation for effective implementation of RTI in various State Government Departments/PSUs.

Different Centers are also working in CMS, which are being funded by GOI or other agencies:-
